The people behind AIRR: the board
Every member of the AIRR Board has extensive hands-
on experience in the rural industry, and their combined
know-how covers every aspect of running a profitable
rural business. This vast expertise underpins both AIRR’s success and our genuine understanding of our
customers’ needs.

Peter Law Managing Director AIRR was formed in January 2006 by Peter Law, a
well-known and respected identity in rural Victoria
with a 30-plus-year career in rural retailing under
his belt. Having begun his career in 1977 as Branch
Accountant with Australian Estates, he established
his own small rural merchandise business, RDL Rural
Supplies, in Shepparton (Vic) in 1981. Peter grew
that business into a leading supplier of rural
merchandise in Victoria and southern NSW before
selling it to Gippsland & Northern, which eventually
became part of a large national organisation.
Leaving there in March 2005, Peter put plans in
place to support independent rural retailers through
group buying power — but without franchise costs
or obligations. The result, Australian Independent
Rural Retailers Pty Ltd, opened for business on
1 January 2006.
Peter Cox Chairman Peter is a director of Peter M. Cox & Associates. He brings to AIRR over 15 years of experience in training and consulting to the rural merchandising industry. In addition to this, Peter writes for many of the industries leading publications.
