Peter LawManaging Director
AIRR was formed in January 2006 by Peter Law, a well-known and respected identity in rural Victoria
with a 30-plus-year career in rural retailing under his belt.
Having begun his career in 1977 as Branch Accountant with Australian Estates, he established
his own small rural merchandise business, RDL Rural Supplies, in Shepparton (Vic) in 1981. Peter grew that business into a leading supplier of rural merchandise in Victoria and southern NSW before
selling it to Gippsland & Northern, which eventually became part of a large national organisation.
Leaving there in March 2005, Peter put plans in place to support independent rural retailers through
group buying power — but without franchise costs or obligations. The result, Australian Independent
Rural Retailers Pty Ltd, opened for business on 1 January 2006.
